During recent years, the concept of andragogy has gained more attention than ever before in language teaching and learning process. The reasons are manifold. On the one hand, there are reasons attributed to the establishment of a scientific base for teaching, and on the other hand, the necessities that have arisen in professionalizing the pedagogic strategies to be employed in making foreign language teaching-learning as effective as possible. The pedagogical thought and framework in the field of foreign language teaching and its historical context highlight the characteristics quite typical in terms of multiculturalism, modernity, urbanism, migration of language learners from rural areas. This, in turn, defines its new borders and limitations compared to the deep-rooted traditional models of education. There is a need for the creation of a broader epistemological structure of pedagogy and therefore, it is essential that new and innovative teaching/didactic methods be appropriately identified.
This conference intends to invite discussions and deliberations on this unique and need-based pedagogical concept. It aims at examining the closeness between the academic problems and the general issues of cultural milieu. It looks into the pivotal role played by academics in the realm of social development, existence of unique and innovative methods and approaches in language teaching and learning based on the harmonic processes of the nature and concept of the unity of knowledge and professional commitment to the field of education for building up better understanding among teaching fraternity.
Further, this Conference, in response to the growing demand for foreign language teaching, opens gates, through fruitful interactions, for a progressive expansion and exploration, aiming at a better didactical framework for the teaching of foreign languages. The future perspectives of teaching foreign language seem to be splendid in view of the rapid demand for learning foreign languages and career prospects across the globe. The particular limitations posed by the multilingual socio-cultural composition of India and other countries should be evaluated and tended successfully with a specific end goal to decipher the possibilities offered by the changes in global political scenarios for practical and realistic benefits. In this situation, it is imperative that the scope and content of the concept of didactics be defined. The specialised didactics of Spanish or romance languages is being hitherto socially and institutionally defined by the educational establishments. This International Conference aims to bring together the views and beliefs widely held among the educators and practitioners about the current situation and position of foreign languages for a conception of didactics. This base is called the rationale of the content and form of teaching and is the object of didactics as a field of educational research.
This proposed International Conference on Didactics/FLT has its need-based objectives of inviting various field experts to get engaged in discussions, dialogues and transformation of views and ideas via lectures, interactions, presentations, talks and Qs & As about the area.

The VIT campus is located on a 370 acre site on the Ranipet – Katpadi Road. It is 2½ hours drive from Chennai by Road and 4 hours from Bangalore. Both the cities are well connected by road, rail and air routes with all parts of the country and also have international airports.
The airport nearest to Vellore is in Chennai. From the airport, you can go to the bus stand at Koyambedu (CMBT) or to the Central Railway Station to take a bus or train to Vellore. Train and bus services to Vellore are frequent, cheap and quite satisfactory. Either journey takes about 2½ hours. If you choose to travel by train, you should buy your ticket to Katpadi Railway Station which is just 3 km away from VIT. Buses from Chennai will bring you right to the centre of the town of Vellore from where you can reach VIT which is about 5 km from the bus stand.
Auto Rickshaws (on share basis) are easily available from Katpadi Junction Railway station and Vellore new bus stand. Government Buses will fly between Chittoor bus stop to VIT. You could also hire exclusive auto rickshaws to reach VIT.

If you arrived at Chennai by air, you may take a taxi to the Central Railway Station, about 20 km away. The taxi fare ranges from Rs.200 to Rs.250.
All west-bound trains from Chennai go via Katpadi Junction Railway Station to several destinations such as Bangalore, Coimbatore, Trivandrum, etc. Travel time is approximately 2 ½ hours; make sure you buy your ticket to Katpadi which is the railway station that serves Vellore town.

After having alighted at Katpadi Junction Railway Station, take an auto rickshaw to VIT campus, a 3 km drive.
If you wish, you may take a taxi directly to VIT, Vellore, from the Chennai airport. It could cost you Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,000 depending upon the type of car you hire. The distance is approximately 130 km; travel time is about 2 ½ hours.
Alternatively, you can go from the airport to the bus stand at Koyambedu either by taxi or auto rickshaw. The approximate distance is 15 km.
Several state-owned buses operate from Koyambedu Bus Stand (CMBT), Chennai, to Vellore (new) bus stand from 04:00 am to 10:30 pm. Travel time is approximately 3 hours.
After having arrived at the new bus stand in Vellore, take an auto rickshaw to VIT campus, a 7 km drive.
